In order to encourage and foster greater direct civic engagement, in September 2008 EPF
supported an expert workshop organized by the Armenian Center for Political and International Studies (ACPIS) devoted to examining recent developments in regional security and stability in the South Caucasus. The workshop focused on the aftermath of the recent conflict in Georgia, the new round of diplomatic engagement between Armenia and Turkey, the unresolved Nagorno Karabakh conflict, as well as issues related to the continuing domestic political situation in Armenia. The special three-day expert workshop was run with the methodology of thoughtactivity, in the form of a ‘Creative game’, with nearly three dozen prominent Armenian expert participants representing various segments of public policy and social sciences, including political analysts, scientists, civil servants, civil society activists, artists and educators.
