Call for Proposals for Research to Identify the State of Armenian Migrants in Turkey

Eurasia Partnership Foundation (EPF) in Armenia seeks a researcher or a team of researchers to conduct a study to identify the state of Armenian migrants in Turkey. The proposed research will be carried out within the framework of the “Protecting the Rights of Armenian Migrants in Turkey” project supported by Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United States Agency for International Development.

The goal of the research is to present a high-quality assessment of the state of Armenian migrants in Turkey by reviewing existing research, carrying out in-depth interviews and holding focus group discussions with key informants in Turkey.

Applicant Eligibility

Organizations or individuals are eligible to apply if they possess the following qualifications:

Work experience in Turkey;
Significant experience in conducting field research in the social sciences;
Ability to travel to the regions of Turkey;

Working knowledge of Turkish and English languages .
Topics of the research should include (but not be limited to):
Community leaders’ knowledge, attitudes and perceptions towards Armenian migrants,
Knowledge of community leaders and migrants about the size and activities of the Armenian community in the specific locale,
Issues that both community leaders and migrants face, including the topic of undocumented or unlawful migration and work status and ethnic discrimination (if at all),
Recommendations to government and civil society to ameliorate the situation of Armenian irregular migrants and Armenian-Turkish relations in the absence of official relations between the two countries, which could include:
recommendations on plausible ways of establishing relationships between Armenian and Turkish counterparts to effectively and efficiently oversee the issue of irregular labor migration from Armenia to Turkey

recommendations on innovative mechanisms for protecting the rights of Armenian migrants in Turkey.

Armenian and Turkish Young Filmmakers Met in Istanbul

Ten young filmmakers from Armenia and Turkey participated in the Armenia-Turkey Cinema Platform (ATCP) workshop held in Istanbul on April 12-13, 2012 on the sidelines of the 31st Istanbul International Film Festival. The participating film projects, five per country, were handpicked by the ATCP pre-selection committee from among 35 applications.
