
The three winners in Armenia of the South Caucasus photo contest *“Water without Borders, Water for Life”* were announced at an opening and awards ceremony at the Academia Gallery. Harutyun Stepanyan took first prize (800 USD), Arman Karakhanyan second (400 USD) and Tatevik Galstyan third prize (200 USD).
Fifty of the best photos submitted to the contest in Armenia will be on display at the gallery through April 20 (the gallery hours are 11:00 to 18:00). The photos illustrate water in nature, water use, water management, trans-boundary water, and water pollution. Twenty-five amateur and professional photographers from Armenia participated in the South Caucasus regional photo contest organized by the USAID South Caucasus Water Program in cooperation with Eurasia Partnership Foundation and the British Council Armenia. The contest was held in Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia to draw public attention to trans-boundary water issues in the South Caucasus and the necessity for regional cooperation.
Ten young filmmakers from Armenia and Turkey participated in the Armenia-Turkey Cinema Platform (ATCP) workshop held in Istanbul on April 12-13, 2012 on the sidelines of the 31st Istanbul International Film Festival. The participating film projects, five per country, were handpicked by the ATCP pre-selection committee from among 35 applications.
