The first in a series of talk shows entitled “Article 27: the Right to Freedom of Expression” was shown on Yerkir Media Saturday June 13. The weekly show airs Saturdays at 16:45. During the talk shows, Armenian and international documentaries will be shown and issues concerning freedom of expression discussed by the documentary filmmakers, experts on free expression issues and members of the public.
The talk shows are produced as part of the project Institutionalizing Freedom of Expression in Armenia implemented by Eurasia Partnership Foundation with the support of the British Embassy in Armenia and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
As part of the project, EPF commissioned six documentary films about issues related to freedom of expression. The films are: Ara Shirinyan’s “Parallel Reality,” Tigran Khzmalyan’s “Armenia minus A1 plus and minus”, Suren Ter-Grigoryan’s “Penetration”, Sousanna Ohanjanyan’s “Freedom of Expression and National Security”, Davit Matevosyan’s “Rock Artist, Citizen, Global Citizen?” and Armen Yepremyan’s “‘SOS’ Save our Souls/ Timeless Hostages of Overriding Interests.” Selected films will be shown and discussed during future broadcasts of the talk show.
During future shows, the international documentary films “Vote for me” (China), “Live Broadcast from Bethlehem” (United States) and “A Lesson in Belarusian” (Belarus) will also be shown.
Ten young filmmakers from Armenia and Turkey participated in the Armenia-Turkey Cinema Platform (ATCP) workshop held in Istanbul on April 12-13, 2012 on the sidelines of the 31st Istanbul International Film Festival. The participating film projects, five per country, were handpicked by the ATCP pre-selection committee from among 35 applications.
